Description
The farmstead ‘‘Bisnieki’‘ in Kurzeme was the birthplace of the writer Ernests Birznieks-Upitis (1871-1960). Impressions of his childhood such as the fragrance of linden blossoms in July and the autumn colours of fields were reflected in his hero ‘‘Pastarins’‘ stories. Children will find pleasure in playing with the wooden figures in the model farmstead of Northern Kurzeme. In the educational programme ‘‘Baking bread’‘ it is not only possible to learn more about bread but also to bake one's own loaf. The museum traditionally holds the ‘‘Pastarins Festival’‘ at the end of May and ‘‘Poetry Days’‘ in September. The museum was founded in 1967.
