Description

Aizkraukles midievel order castrle ruins are located in Aizkraukles parish by Daugavas shore. Castle was built in 1224. In 1226 it was removed by Viesturs, but couldn't to hang on it for too long. In 1559 Aizkraukle was siezed to polish, in 1577 it was taken by russians. And till 1633 castle was still in peace, but it was in ruins already in 1680. To this day there is only preserved one wall and fundamentals.
