Description

The Latgale Culture and History Museum was founded in 1959 and its research focuses on the history and culture of the entire Latgale region and Rezekne district. The main exhibition depicts the history of Rezekne - the geographical, cultural and educational centre of Latgale. One of the characteristic features of the town and the region is Latgallian ceramics, the development of which can be traced through a special exhibition. The gallery offers regularly changing art exhibitions. It has become a tradition to arrange showings of Latgalian artists every autumn and exhibitions of Latgalian ceramists' creations every spring. Works made by Art College and Children's Art School pupils are also regularly exhibited. The scientific library of the museum has a public reading-room, which also includes public Internet access. Books may also be borrowed
