Description
The Museum was founded in 1947, it occupies the building of previous hotel "Kurzeme" (Courland) in the centre of the old part of the town - the square of the Town Hall. The collection of museum holds more than 56 thousand units. The basic exposition "Bauska long ago and inhabitants of the town" is under construction and is not accessible. But you may acquaint yourselves with exhibitions about Bauska town and its inhabitants (Latvians, Jews, Germans). You may see collections of dolls and toys from the19 c. till now. Various exhibitions and activities take place regularly in museum halls. The experts of museum are doing research work, informing the visitors about the past of Bauska district, guiding excursions through the museum and our town. The Studio of National crafts works by the museum. The weavers may inform you about making and completing national costume of Zemgale. You may see a weavers-workshop
