Description
The Daugavpils Museum of Regional Studies and Arts was founded in 1938. A considerable amount of the collection was lost during World War II. In August 1944 the museum was reborn, and since 1959 the museum has been situated in a separate building on Riga Street. In 1991 a gradual redevelopment of the exhibition began. The new part of the exhibition shows local history and nature from ancient times up to 1922. There are about 79 000 items in the museum collection including large collections of ceramics, ethnography, coins, documents, photographies, postcards and prints
