Apraksts Dagda ir apdzīvota vieta 26 km uz ziemeļaustrumiem no Krāslavas - Latgales augstienes austrumu nogāzē, līčainā Dagdas ezera rietumu galā. 18. gs. Dagdas saimnieciskās un intelektuālās dzīves centrs bija Hilzenu dzimtas muiža. Plaša, rūpīgi kopta parka ieskautajā muižas ēkā glabājās bagātais Hilzenu arhīvs, kurā vielu saviem pētījumiem par Latgales vēsturi smēlās jau pieminētais Jans Augusts Hilzens. (Viņa 1750. gadā sarakstītais apjomīgais darbs "Inflanty" bija pilnīgākais izziņas avots par Latgales teritoriju un tās iedzīvotājiem 18.gs.). 1863. gadā, poļu sacelšanās laikā, Dagdas muiža tika nodedzināta un līdz ar to diemžēl aizgāja bojā arī vērtīgais arhīvs.
Dagdas ģērbonī uz zelta fona attēlots no sarkanām liesmām atdzimstošs fenikss. Fenikss - teiksmains putns. Tam piemitusi spēja vecumā sadegt savā ligzdā, pēc tam no jauna atdzimt no pelniem. Fenikss ir nemirstības, mūžīgās atjaunošanās, atdzimšanas simbols. Ģērboņa augšējā labajā stūri melns trīslapu krusts. Krusts ir kristiešu reliģijas simbols. |

Ļoti skaistā pilsēta kurā atrodas katoļu baznīca,vectic.baznīca un preiztic.baznīca interesantā domes ēka ar kolonnām.
