Apraksts Pilsēta izveidojusies pakāpeniski, apvienojoties vairākiem piekrastes ciemiem. Kopš seniem laikiem pie Pēterupes atradies Pēterupes zvejniekciems. Leģenda stāsta, ka upe un ciems esot nosaukti Pētera I vārdā, jo cars pārnakšņojis turienes macītājmuižā. Kopš 18.gs. Pēterupes ciemā bija peldvieta. 1823.g. Ķīšupes krastos uzcēla pirmās vasarnīcas. Jauno vasasrnīcu rajonu nosauca par Neibādi ( Jaunā peldvieta ) 1880.g. arī Pabažu muižas zemi piešķīra vasarnīcu būvei. Izveidojās Pabažu ciems un Katrīnbādes peldvieta, kur galvenokārt atpūtās vācu baroni.
1933. gadā Neibādi pārdēvēja par Saulkrastiem un apvienoja ar Pēterupes ciemu. 1950. gadā Saulkrastiem pievienoja Pabažus, 1967.g. - Zvejniekciemu. |
