Description
Dzintare Hillfort is located about 5 km West of Apriki, on the bank of the Tebra River, at the outfall of the Grapste River in Tebra. The plateau of the hill is 75 m long and 25 m wide. In Rhytm Chronicle is told about fight of German crusaders, who have attacked army of Curonian and Lithuanian tribes settled in Dzintare Hillfort in 1261. The moat of the fortress was filled with fire-wood and burned. All inhabitants of the wooden castle, who were more than 11 years old were killed. There is a large oak-tree growing gon the plateau of the hill on the former site of the Curonian wooden castle.
