Plavinas hydropowerplant did not sort anything and flooded nature and cultural heritage located even 35 kilometres upstream from the dam. Numerous unique monuments disappeared in the water in the valley between Plavinas and Koknese. I am completely sure - if there would be no power plant, today an outstanding national park would be existing here for 15 or 20 years already. And more and more popularity would gain then also the otherwise little known Piesupite waterfall.
