The Roja Sea-fishing Museum was opened in 1971. It reflects the life and work of fishermen. One of the exhibitions tells visitors about Krisjanis Valdemars' naval schools on the seaboard of Northern Kurzeme and the epoch of sailing ships in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. One can get an insight into shore fishing and work in fish canneries from the early 20th century to 1940, also into the history of the fishermen's collective farm ‘‘Banga’‘. The temporary exhibition gallery regularly changes exhibitions of paintings, ceramics, handicrafts and flowers |
