The Eduards Smilgis Theatre Museum occupies the house of the distinguished director, the founder of the Dailes (Art) Theatre Eduards Smilgis (1886-1966) in Pardaugava. The building was especially designed for Smilgis in the 1920s and reflects his original, striking and contradictory personality. The museum was opened in 1976. The most interesting rooms are the small hall with a stage and Smilgis' study. The exhibition traces the development of professional theatre in Latvia. ‘‘ (Latvian Museum Association)
