Description
Pēterupes Lutheran church can be regarded as one of the witnesses of whole Saulkrasti town history forming process. The history of the church itself also is rich and full of interesting facts: for example, the present building of the church is fourth one since the foundation of it in Middle Ages. According to historical documents, in the beginning of German invasion in the territory of Latvia (13th century), the chapel was built on the hill on the bank of the Pēterupe river. This chapel was named after St. Peter.
