Description
The Janis Rozentals and Rudolfs Blaumanis Museum is located in one of the most architecturally designed streets of Riga. The flat of the painter Janis Rozentals (1866-1916) is situated in an Art Nouveau house built in 1904 to the design of the architect Konstantins Peksens. The flat became a mecca for the Latvian intelligentsia of the early 20th century. The artist's memorial studio, parlour, furniture, art works and household items give a genuine Art Nouveau feel. The writer Rudolfs Blaumanis lived in one of the rooms as a tenant from 1906 to 1908. The museum was opened in 1973. ‘‘ (Latvian Museum Association)
