Description
The museum is to be found in the Livonian Order Castle: “(1290) – the oldest medieval fortified castle in Latvia, sympathetically restored to retaining its original exterior. Inside there is a well equipped museum of the town, which tells the fascinating story of Duke Jacob of Courland, whose rule transformed the region into a significant maritime power. The Mueseum also contains many Archaeological collections, Collection of documents, Collection of published works, Ethnographic collection, Collection of postcards and photographs, Art collections.
